ABOUT CAMBRIDGE
PHOTOGRAPHY
GROUP
Come along to our photo sessions to dust off your camera and get snap-happy with a professional photography instructor.

Brush up on your camera skills and learn new photography techniques whilst on a photo walk class with other local keen photographers!

We run two hour photography sessions based on a photography theme/technique/style and they take place in various locations around Cambridge.

New to photography? We also run a popular 3 hour Beginners Guide to Photography Class once a month. And once in a while we will run special niche 3 hour classes, for example, Astrophotography - so do subscribe to our newsletter to know when the next on is!

Who can attend? Open to all skill levels, from beginners to keen amateurs. The photography instructor is there to help you with camera settings and provide any advice you need.

What to bring? We recommend bringing a camera that has full manual mode or semi-manual modes (Aperture or Shutter Priority). Compact cameras and smartphones also welcome!

The meeting point and full details for the day are sent in the booking confirmation email to the email address you provide at time of booking.

Join the Cambridge Photography Facebook Group here to share your photos after the session.

Our classes and photography sessions are limited to a max of 5 students - due to current COVID restrictions

We ask that everyone attending a meetup follows social distancing guidelines:

Stay home if you're sick.
Keep 2 metres away from others.
Don't make unnecessary physical contact with others. Avoid physical greetings, such as handshakes, hugs and kisses.
Wash your hands regularly with alcohol-based sanitiser.
Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Use a flexed elbow or a tissue.

From the start it was very relaxed. I was given help in a way that was easy to understand. We were given freedom to photograph what we liked. Then given advice on how to improve the photo with helpful advice. It could not have gone better. Money was well spent.

I attended the Street Photography Meetup with instruction and guidance from Al Montasser Othman yesterday; Saturday 9th September and I was very happy with the experience provided. Our host was friendly, open, knowledgeable and easy to talk to and could advise and guide experienced, intermediate and beginner level photographers with equipment ranging from DSLR cameras with extra lenses to mobile phone cameras. The group was small which felt reassuring and safe with the current COVID threat level. Also it was a perfect sized group so that every photographer had a chance to engage with our host and each other. The scenery and route (Great St Mary's Church and around the Marketplace through to Lion Yard) was ideal to capture a variety of interesting and challenging shots, subjects ranging from still life to moving people, vehicles, both colour and monochromatic scenes, and from architecture yo street performers to fascinating faces, bikes, street food vendors and much more and of course each other! We had a lot of fun supporting each other and I learnt a lot about my camera and how to take certain shots that I previously had absolutely no idea!! I am looking forward to uploading and sharing my shots ASAP, unfortunately I had an incident in which my camera got wet after the class had finished and it is dead 😭 so I am awaiting the chance to retrieve my shots from the memory card. I would most certainly join another Cambridge Photography Group event as soon as my equipment issue is resolved as i believe it has definitely added to my skill, knowledge, experience and confidence as a photographer and given me skills that I will use every time I pick up a camera. I thoroughly enjoyed it and got a lot out of it. Can't wait to process my images. I enjoyed Monty's style and I loved the small group so that we each got lots of his time.

I enjoyed getting out, meeting other photographers, having themed photography practice with someone who could give guidance and suggestions. It was probably pitched a little too much for beginners but it allowed me to reinforce and consolidate and I left feeling I had learnt something and I was wiser than when I started.
